How to Raise Quail in Winter (What Actually Works)

Winter was one of the biggest things I had to figure out when raising quail.

At first I thought they wouldn’t handle the cold well.

But they actually do better than I expected.

❄️ What I Do in Winter

  • Block wind
  • Keep part of the enclosure covered
  • Use bedding to control moisture

💡 Light Matters

If I don’t add light, egg production drops.

If I add light, they keep laying. They need 15 Hrs of light, soft white.

🧠 What I Learned

Cold isn’t the biggest problem.

Wind and moisture are.

✅ Final Thoughts

Keep them dry, block wind, and add light if you want eggs.

That’s been enough for me.
